Some interesting graphs Saturday, Apr 12 2008

As part of the work we are doing for the Libraries LTCCP project and with the help of Mandy and our Tech Services team,  I’ve been looking at how our library users compare to our wider Tasman District Community.  The results have been pleasantly surprising.  One of the many positive findings is that our library membership is higher than we thought at 59% of the district currently library members. This count excludes any cards which haven’t been used since 2006.  Although we certainly want to see this number continue to increase this is better than what we previously thought.

I had hoped to paste in the charts but can’t work out how to do this.  I’ll continue to work on this but, the interesting point so far is that our library user demographics by age  reflect the population at large.  Young children  and the elderly are not over-represented, and in fact the 16-40 year old group is slightly over represented in our library users!

All of this data helps to inform the long term planning process
